What is Life Coaching?

Coaching empowers you to achieve your goals. In our sessions, I’ll guide and support you, asking questions, exploring challenges, and encouraging you to take action and responsibility for your progress.

Life Coaching with NLP
(Neuro-Linguistic Programming)

Life coaching with NLP combines traditional coaching methods with powerful techniques from Neuro-Linguistic Programming to help individuals create lasting positive change. A life coach who is also an NLP practitioner guides clients in identifying goals, overcoming obstacles, and transforming limiting beliefs through a deeper understanding of how language, thoughts, and behaviour are connected.

NLP focuses on how people experience the world through their senses and internal dialogue. By recognising and reshaping unhelpful thought patterns, clients can develop new ways of thinking and behaving that align with their desired outcomes. The coach can use tools such as reframing, visualization, and anchoring to help clients access empowering emotional states and build confidence when coaching alone is not enough.

In a coaching session, the life coach and client work collaboratively to clarify what the client truly wants—whether in career, relationships, health, or personal growth—and design practical steps toward achieving it. The NLP approach accelerates this process by addressing subconscious blocks and reinforcing positive mental habits.

The result is greater self-awareness, motivation, and resilience. Clients learn to communicate more effectively, manage emotions, and take consistent action toward their goals. Ultimately, life coaching with NLP helps people not only solve current challenges but also develop lifelong skills for personal mastery and fulfilment.

“I can’t recommend Denise enough as a life coach. Her open, friendly but professional manner puts you at ease straight away and by the end of the session, with her gentle guidance, the many ideas swimming around in my head have been simplified and prioritised into achievable goals. Using careful and targeted questioning, Denise has the wonderful ability to really hear what it is I want to achieve both personally and in the business. She helps hone in on these goals and then enables me to prioritise these so that I can apply myself fully in sensible time. Knowing which building blocks are laid first has really set the business in motion and I fully intend to continue using Denise to keep the momentum going. Investing a little time, money and energy into my business and myself using Denise has been so valuable.”

FAQs

    • Do you feel that currently you aren’t reaching your potential or feeling fulfilled?

    • Is there a gap of where you are now to where you want to be?

    • Do you sometimes feel you don’t have the skills, resources or confidence to get to where you want to be?

    • Are you ready to entertain new and fresh ideas?

If you answer yes to any of these questions, then coaching can most definitely support you to be the best that you can be.

  • Coaching is a tool that is used to empower you and help you reach your goals. During a coaching session, I will walk by your side to help you to reach your ultimate goals and aspirations. I will listen to you, ask questions, find out what your challenges are and inspire you to reach that end goal. You will be encouraged to make decisions and take responsibility for these decisions.

Coaching is not about giving you suggestions or advice. It is not mentoring or counselling.

  • Coaches use different models to structure their sessions and keep you moving forward towards your goal. As your coach, I will ask you powerful questions, listen to your responses and challenge you whilst remaining non-judgemental regarding the details. Coaching sessions are predominantly carried out over the zoom/google meet/telephone. The usual procedure is that the client will book a free, no obligation discovery call to discuss how they will work together in coaching sessions.

In a coaching session, you will be guided through a 6 point process.

1: Review the previous session and the actions that you completed

2: Set the goal for that session

3: Consider where you are at the present moment with this goal

4: Consider your options in meeting this goal

    5: Agree on some actions

6: Summarise the session before completing the session.

Each session will be for 1 hour. The coach will manage the timing of the session and ensure you gain full value from the session.

  • A coaching session is completely confidential. I agree and comply to the Coaching Code of Conduct, which you will find attached, and only in extreme circumstances will this confidence be breached.

This includes the intent to cause harm to yourself or others or criminal acts.

  • To make sure that your time is being well spent with me, you are expected to come to the session fully prepared and with a goal or aspiration in mind that you would like to work towards. You are encouraged to come to the session prepared and to take yourself to an environment where you will not be disturbed (if we are working online or by telephone), with a drink and feeling refreshed to relax prior to the start of the session.

You will also need to ensure that you have a pen and paper to hand to record anything that is important to you through the session, and a calendar or diary to schedule your actions.

  • You just need to book a discovery call to discuss your requirements in a little more depth. Then, if you decide you would like some coaching sessions with me, I will send details regarding the terms and conditions, frequency of sessions, payment and taking of some basic contact information. We can then organise an ‘Intake’ session which will start us talking about you and your aspirations. After all, this is all about YOU! Book a free discovery call now and let’s get started.

  • Therapy and counselling focus on understanding and working through emotional or mental health challenges, often exploring past trauma to support healing and personal insight.

Life coaching, however, looks to the future - helping individuals set meaningful goals, build on their strengths, and make positive changes in both their personal and professional lives. While the line between coaching and therapy can sometimes feel blurred, the distinction is in their focus. Therapists help with emotional healing and mental well-being, while life coaches guide clients towards growth, achievement, and creating a more fulfilling life.
